I am finding it easier to work through and an easier read. This is the book for you if you have borderline personality disorder.

   If you're looking at different DBT books get this one. I've talked to a few therapists, and they all recommend this one. I have the Marsha Lineham DBT training handouts, and worksheets one, but that's for actual therapists, and I needed more explanation about the DBT skills. We're working out this book in my DBT class, and I really enjoy it.
   
   It talks about learning skills that prevent therapy interfering behavior, and trigger behavior. So it's not just for addiction it could be things like eating too much, not excercising, over shopping, and basically anything you want to work on. I'm excited to get this.

   This is a great educational book on teaching/learning DBT skills. I love the ability to make copies easily with serial bound and added section on addictive patterns as so many folks who struggle emotionally often compensate with some kind repetitive behavior that becomes unhealthy or unwanted at some point. This book has taught me how to explain DBT concepts and skills to others and has helped me learn how to use the skills in my everyday life too.

   I learned DBT using the original Linehan tools, which included a lot of clunky acronyms and awkward language. While the skills were incredibly useful, the approach felt incomplete and difficult to use in a self-help context. This DBT Skills approach is so much more user-friendly, comprehensible, and complete. The inclusion of DBT for Addiction, and application to social media, expands its usefulness exponentially since so many substance abuse treatment programs use DBT. I highly recommend it to both clinicians and regular civilians as a powerful, trauma-informed way to cope with big emotions.

   A colleague bought the second edition after attending one of Lane's workshops. She said he was delightful. Our team offered the following: The book is clear, easy to understand, user-friendly, and accessible to the lay reader. This book makes DBT fun. We have used handouts in our adult psychiatric inpatient unit with patients of varied cognitive abilities and functioning levels with good results. Staff need to practice radical acceptance over and over in our work, and Lane aids the process. Very generous and willing to share material. If I were to buy it for the first time, I'd get the spiral-bound edition or the later book. Thank you, Lane and Courtney Pederson!

   This is a great manual for therapists who are looking to start or expand their work with client's using DBT. It has practical and realistic suggestions and materials. Clients and clinicians alike get excited to use new materials and I love all of the new worksheets. The spiral bound book makes it easy to use and make copies. This version of the manual contains a lot of new material and will be one of my new "go-to" books. I highly recommend this book!

   Another great investment for therapists to use in both foundational and advanced DBT programs. I purchased the first addition and found it to be difficult to make copies of the "applications". This second edition is worth the investment. I love the new chain analysis and solution analysis as this will allow individuals to discuss more about problem behavior(s). The sticky judgment worksheet is very useful during individual sessions. Also, further exploration of dialectics could be used with the second edition of Marsha Linehan's DBT manual. You are able to download the worksheets which is a big relief. I plan to take his 8 week online course to become DBTC. Currently, I am using this manual at my job site with the Advanced DBT patients.
